From the Pastor: This week, our Country celebrates the 240th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. In 1776, the congregation was meeting for Mass at the Conewago Chapel which stood on this spot. The log chapel was dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady and Fr. James Pellentz was in charge. The Church in the Thirteen Colonies was under the jurisdiction of the Vicar Apostolic for London. This is commemorated by the red coat of arms located directly over the Ninth Station of the Cross.
